Bond Custom Shop

A workshop where exclusive custom-designed guitars are created. In order to provide a wide tonal palette of the instrument, we use our unique technology and special woods that have been dried for at least five years. A custom guitar is handmade in a single copy and is 100% authentic and exclusive. The sound, appearance, materials and their combination are unique and original.

An important detail: we do not copy designs of well-known brands. Common wisdom says that no one can do Fender better than Fender. But no one else can do our guitars, even the most experienced brand. Bond Guitars have their own style, combining the best aspects of guitar classics with modern technology and needs of musicians. Therefore, our instruments are original in appearance, sound great and will not go out of fashion in a couple of years.

Custom Shop pricing table

The price of an exclusive guitar or bass from Bond Custom Shop is 2,700 EUR for the basic configuration. It includes a build based on one of Bond Guitars' body contours, premium woods and Hipshot hardware. The instrument comes with an original hardcase or gigbag. You can see the full list of basic configuration specifications here. To maximize the expression of your musical style, there is an option to choose different specifications for an additional fee. As we are a custom shop, almost everything is possible.

Body

We offer five original body contours designed and used by Bond Guitars. All of them are suitable for both guitar and bass builds:

  • Bond NP (offset)
  • Bond Nox (single cut)
  • Bond Star (double cut, traditional)
  • Bond UMG (double cut, modern)
  • Bond Modeus (asymmetrical, modern)

You can find pictures of actual instruments with these contours on this page.

It is possible to make a different custom body shape for an additional charge of 120 EUR. We can also make a left-handed or reverse version, if needed. When choosing the custom contour, consider that we do not copy the form factors of other brands.

Most of our builds use tried-and-true high grade alder bodies. Our signature feature is a center piece under the strings made of different wood (usually a hard ash), also known as a tone block. This feature is included in the basic configuration price. We use only properly dried, hand-selected hardwoods.

For your future instrument you can choose from:

  • Select European alder
  • Select European hard ash
  • Other wood species (upcharge)

Tops and chambering are possible, just ask for options while ordering.

Over the years Bond Guitars developed a unique nitro-acrylic finishing technology, not used by any other builder on the market. The traditional nitro paint is covered with a slightly textured acrylic coating, which protects the guitar from sunlight, dirt, dust and scratches. This finish has minimal effect on the sound, while the guitar always looks clean and tidy. It is almost impossible to leave fingermarks on it.

However, as a custom shop we also offer standard finishing options such as high gloss, matte and satin, traditional nitro etc.

We also do high-quality aging and hard relic works for an additional fee.

Here you can explore the Bond Guitars color palette we offer. You can choose any of these colors for an upcoming build or specify a different desired color for a fee of 190 EUR.

Neck

You can choose any number of strings that you need for the upcoming build. Guitars with more than 6 strings and basses with more then 4 strings require an upcharge fee.

Most of our electric guitars use the original 25.25" scale. Its parameters are calculated to provide a necessary string action and enhance the control of the strings for playing bends and vibrato. It is suitable for normal and any drop tuning as low as Drop A.

Basses we make feature a bit elongated 34.25" scale for enhanced performance. Short-scale basses use 30.5" scale length.

You can choose from these options:

  • Guitar standard scale 25.25 inches
  • Guitar elongated scale 26.5 inches
  • Bass standard scale 34.25 inches
  • Bass short scale 30.5 inches
  • Custom scale length or multiscale (upcharge)

We use high grade radial-cut wood for the neck. Hard maple necks are usually painted in the same color as the body, while roasted maple necks are coated with natural oil and beeswax. The headstock can be painted in a matching color.

The options are:

  • Select hard maple
  • Sapele mahogany
  • American roasted flame maple, high grade
  • American roasted flame maple, high grade, matching headstock (+90 EUR)
  • American roasted flame maple, master grade (+110 EUR)
  • American roasted flame maple, master grade, matching headstock (+190 EUR)

Fretboard options are high grade rosewood, ebony and roasted maple. Also, we often use Richlite as a substitution for ebony to reduce the environmental impact.

We install the best medium-jumbo fretwire available on the market manufactured by Jescar. An upgrade to stainless steel frets is possible for a fee of 100 EUR. Also, we do fretless builds when needed.

Fretboard radii to choose from are:

  • 12" standard radius
  • 16" modern radius
  • 20" radius (only for seven- and more string guitars)
  • Flat fretboard, no radius
  • Custom or compound radius (+95 EUR)

As for the neck, you can choose from any options possible for the body finish. Usually we recommend roasted maple necks finished with natural tung oil and beeswax.

Hardware

We tend to use original Hipshot hardware in most cases. As a default, electric guitars feature Grip-Lock open gear locking tuners and a high-mass fixed bridge with stainless steel saddles, while basses come with Ultralite tuners and the KickAss bridge.

As we are a custom shop, any kind of hardwire is possible for an upcharge.

A lot of standard and custom pickguards are possible, when needed. Sometimes we even do acrylic mirror or aluminum pickguards, just ask for options.

We use Bond Guitars deluxe strap buttons as a default option. An upgrade to Dunlop or Schaller straplocks is possible.
